John Scalzi hosted me on his blog. I appreciate his support so much. Not every author is happy to give a lift to other writers, but he’s great.
What happens when you do something wrong for the right reason?
I wrote about Wish Magic, specifically the growth and evolution of Gregory Adamos, the morally gray character who both plagues and befriends Becs.
Gregory is a mortal in a magical world and he’s been to Hell and Hades. Lucifer attacked him. He knows and employs fae.
But he has no powers of his own.
So, he decides to get some, to find magic that he can control.
It is completely understandable but of course, he does it all wrong and things get chaotic. I was thinking about how folks can do the wrong thing for the right reason. Gregory seeks power and we can understand why. The new movie, Oppenheimer, depicts a man who develops an atomic bomb to end the war. He did a terrible thing but for the right reasons and saved countless lives in the process. But, as he said, he became the destroyer of worlds.
Gregory also employs power and cannot control it. How that power is harnessed is the heart of the story.
Asher is Back
Let’s also not forget the former angel now human who returns from the supposed dead.
Now, Asher is a plain vanilla mortal in a magical world, like Gregory, and he’s going to have to get used to being powerless.
Luckily, his chemistry with Becs is unaffected. 🙂
