BaltiCon Recap
BaltiCon Recap: What happens when you drive 300+ miles to the city you grew up in? If you are me, you attend BaltCon. I even took some time out Saturday morning to go visit my mum and stepdad. They made me a delicious breakfast. And that was a good thing because . . .
Food Poisoning
Yes, I got food poisoning. Saturday night, I was by myself and I took myself out for a pasta dinner in the Light Street Pavilion. I will not mention the restaurant because I’m sure this was a fluke. The restaurant was full, obviously popular, and I’m sure they would have been horrified to know what happened.
I eat, and yummy! It’s great going down. I go back to the hotel, do my 8:30pm panel on Paranormal Romance, go up to my room, and proceed to get violently ill.
Sigh. 0 out of 10 recommend. Like all food poisoning, it was over by the morning, but I was not at my best on Sunday.
Sunday Panels
Nevertheless, Sunday went great. I did panels on Raising the Stakes in your story, Deities and Pantheons, and It’s Never Too Late To Start Your Writing Journey. I also did an autograph session and sold a few books, plus a reading. It was a good day.
I saw folks I knew and met a few more, which I always appreciate. I bought a piece of art and some books, as usual.
Would I Go Back?
Probably. It wasn’t a selling event for me because I didn’t have a table in the Dealer’s Room, but the Baltimore SF&F society folks are all nice people and they really do their best to put on a good con. It would be nice to sell more to offset the cost, and I’m not sure adding a table in the Dealer’s Room is worth it because then you add the cost of the table. It’s a toss up for me. I loved the panels and people I met, but as with all cons, it’s expensive to travel there and pay for a hotel, and food (even food that does not make you sick), so I have to weigh these opportunities carefully.
BaltiCon Recap
But, again, I want to thank the folks at BaltiCon and the Baltimore SF&F society for having me. It was nice to meet so many of you.
