My Summer So Far

My summer has been nuts. Here are so many things going on that it is hard to keep track.
First was ConCarolinas, which is always a blast. I hung out with friends and made some new ones. Always a good time.

The Big Ohio Book Con in June in Medina, OH was terrific. Bigger than last year and I got to see Seanan Maguire in person. We haven’t seen in other in ages. Sold lots of books.

The Columbus Book Festival in July. I’ve never seen an event like this before. We had a great turnout and I sold bunches of books, but not nearly as many as my tablemate who must have sold 200 books. And, that’s with only having three books to sell. I spent a lot of time analyzing what was working and it came down to this: Three books with coordinating covers that absolutely scream suspenseful mystery. He had a simple table with one eye-catching display and that was it. It worked for him. It has given me a lot to think about.
Upcoming
Upcoming is DragonCon during Labor Day weekend in hot Atlanta. And then, Multiverse in October, also in Atlanta, but not downtown. I am extremely excited about Multiverse because Martha Wells, who wrote Murderbot, is the guest of honor.

Meanwhile, we are selling our house and moving to an AirBnb temporarily while our new house is being built. It is one of the most nerve-wracking processes I’ve ever had to do.
One VERY COOL THING is the “cassettes” of A Wrinkle & Crime produced by Soundbooth Theater. It looks like a cassette but it is actually a USB. You plug it into your computer and listen to the book.
And did I mention that I also got a concussion? Spent one week in a dimly lit, quiet room while my squished brain recovered
My husband and I took a breather this past weekend and visited Lake Erie. The path in the picture is at a picturesque spot called Sims Park.
But, What About the Books?
All of the Summoner’s Mark is under my name now, as Slippery Words Books. Bell Bridge Books is in the process of closing, not for any nefarious reasons. The publisher, who is lovely and honest, simply wants to retire and spend more time with her dogs. I wish her well. You can find any of my books on my website.
We Dig the Truth, my first horror novel is a Holocaust ghost story where the ghosts really do come back to haunt you. It is in my editor’s hands but has also gone through two sensitivity readers since the story takes place during the Holocaust and also involves two male characters who fall in love. So far, both have loved it so I’m crossing fingers that you will too.
