Interview With RinoZ About Chrysalis
I had the great pleasure of speaking with RinoZ about his book and audiobook, Chrysalis. It is a super fun story about a teen who is reincarnated as a monster ant on a new world ruled by an AI that sounds like Gandalf. We follow Anthony’s story as he grows, learns, and develops new skills. (The evolution parts are some of my favorites.) Enjoy my Interview With RinoZ About Chrysalis.
Monster An vs Roman Legion
If someone had told me that I’d love a series about a monster ant fighting the Roman Legion, I would have laughed, but I loved Anthony’s heart. RinoZ does a fabulous job of creating a plucky, empathetic character who you can’t help but root for.
For the Colony!
Meanwhile, not only is Anthony a fantastic hero, but you can’t help but love the ant colony. I knew the second I listened to the audiobooks that RinoZ knew a lot about ants in the real world. He includes details of the life of a colony of ants and these ants are so enthusiastic and charming that you love them. They want to work so hard that they skip torpor, which is their sleep, and eventually a sleep squad of ants has to steal them away from their work so they can rest.
Humans? Oh, yes. Them.
In addition, the human characters are complex. No one is simply good or simply bad. Titus, my favorite, has fought monsters in the dungeon so long, protecting his people on the surface, that he can’t imagine a spawn of the dungeon being an ally. But he’s an honorable character.
Enid, a spunky older woman on the surface of the planet complains about having too much responsibility and then takes more on. And the one-armed priest who worships Anthony and the colony is a hoot, especially when he “shouts” telepathically.

I encourage anyone who likes LitRPG to give it a go. If you are not sure you enjoy LitRPG but love audiobooks, I strongly encourage you to listen to them. The audiobooks are done by narrator extraordinaire, Jeff Hayes, founder and CEO of Soundbooth Theater. He’s amazing and they are so much fun to listen to. You can listen to the trailer here.
