‘Tis the season, even in year “Holy Hell What Happened,” so it is time to think of gifts. I am a firm believer in pampering so add these to your online ordering spree for yourself as well. (Unfortunately, I get no kick-backs for recommending these products. Sigh. You’d think they value a zombie’s opinion more.) Here are this Zombie Cosmetologist’s favorite things:
SKIN
Your skin is a reflection of your overall health. It responds to what you eat, how you sleep, and if you exercise. The best treatment for skin is healthy living, BUT, in lieu of that, try Becca’s First Light Priming Filter Instant Complexion Refresh. Yeah, it’s purple, but this stuff gives luminosity without making you look like a Twilight vampire. Sparkle-free!
Having problems with your skin? Blackheads, redness, very dry patches and you can’t come see me? Try something more customized at Curology. A young client with combination skin including an oily t-zone and pimples has had great success with their products.
EYES
Let’s face it, masks have made eye makeup more important than ever. I’m going to tell you the most affordable trick in the book, and shhh, it’s a secret so don’t share. This is just between us. NYX Faux Blacks eyeliner. $8.00 each, and they are amazing. Creamy, easy to blend, and not quite black, these liners are a treat for the eyes. Try my favorites: Blackberry for green eyes, Black Hole for brown, and for my blue-eyed peeps, try Black Olive.
CHEEKS
Drew Barrymore’s Flower cosmetics are just like her—pretty, girlie, and bright. Try her Gel Crush Lip & Cheek for a pop of color when you need it most. I love multi-purpose products and the size and shape of these little tubes makes them perfect for travel. Not that we are doing that now, but we can plan and dream, can’t we? You bet!
LIPS
While masks highlight the eyes, they’ve been murder (oh, no…did I say murder?) on the lips. What’s the point of wearing that perfectly applied red lipstick under a mask? Instead, focus on keeping your kisser soft and moisturized during these dry months. Burt’s Bees is a sure thing. Try their Beeswax Bounty-Assorted Gift. It opens like a greeting card so you can write a note to the recipient. I love this sampler because it contains the classic Beeswax, Vanilla Bean, Cucumber Mint, and Coconut & Pear.
There you have it, a Zombie Cosmetologist’s Favorite things–the juiciest beauty tidbits that will make you feel better and look better–since I’m limiting consultations due to the current situation.
